FAQs

Where is the church?

PSDBC is located at 4032 Poplar Springs Drive, directly across from Poplar Springs Elementary School on Poplar Springs Drive.  We are located between 40th and 41st Streets.

From I-20/59 South take exit 150

As you come off the ramp turn left at the traffic light.  Take Highway 19 North - at McDonald's turn right on 8th Street.  This will take you into down town Meridian.  Turn left on 24th Avenue which will become Poplar Springs Drive (watch for a left fork at 5 Points).  Our church is located at 40th Street on the right side of the street.

From Hwy 39 North

Turn west (Left)  on North Hills Street, turn left on Poplar Springs Drive (at the traffic light in Broadmoor Shopping Center) drive about 1 mile and the church will be on the left.

Land marks to look for on highway 39 are:

Alliance Hospice Hospital, Hardee's Restaurant and Winn Dixie Grocery  on the right as you approach the traffic light at North Hills Street where you turn left.

Coming from the Navy Base you pass Barham Funeral Home and North East Middle School, at the traffic light you would turn right onto North Hills Street and left on Poplar Springs Drive.  The church will be on the left just as you pass 41st Street.

When do I need to arrive?

Due to parking and traffic considerations, plan to arrive 10 minutes prior to the start of Worship or Bible study.

What are service times?

We offer Sunday morning, Sunday evening, and Wednesday services:
  • Bible Study 9:00 AM.
  • Morning worship 10:15 AM
  • Discipleship Training 5:00 PM.
  • Evening worship 6:00 PM
  • Our Wednesday Mid-Week service is from 6:00  to 7:00 PM, preceded by fellowship supper from 5 to 6 PM.  We have music and missions for the kids during this period.  Students meet in the Activities Building for W.O.W (Worship on Wednesday).

What do I need to wear?

Dress comfortably.  While some people dress up, many wear casual and comfortable clothes on Sunday mornings.  Wednesday nights are always casual.  Don't worry about what you wear, just come and experience the difference.

What programs are offered for families?

We provide you and your family a wide range of opportunities for growing deeper in your faith, for building relationships, and for serving others.  There are programs for everyone from preschool to senior adults. Visit the "PSDBC Ministries" section for more information.

What type of Bible classes do you offer?

Each Sunday morning, we meet for Bible study at 9:00.  We have a Bible study class for each life stage.  The Holy Bible is our text book while LifeWay Christian Resources and StudentLife provide our curriculum. To find your Bible study class, click here!

Sunday evenings at 5:00 PM we offer short term classes on different topics and interests such as: Evangelism; Revelation - an end time study; Faithfully Fit For Him - healthy life style, diet, exercise, and more; Drama.  In the Fall each year we offer a  course on finances and money management.

What is your denominational affiliation?

We cooperate with the Southern Baptist Convention, support the ministries of the Mississippi Baptist Convention, and Lauderdale Baptist Association.   However, people from all faith backgrounds are welcomed at PSDBC!

What is your weekly attendance average?

We average 345 in Bible Study and more in Worship each week.

What should I wear?

Dress comfortably.  While some people dress up, many wear casual and comfortable clothes on Sunday mornings.  Wednesday nights are always casual.  Don't worry about what you wear, just come and experience the difference.

How can I become a member of PSDBC?

If you desire to accept Christ as your Savior or to make PSDBC your church home in Meridian, we would welcome your decision in several ways:

(1)  On Profession Of Faith In Jesus Christ.  Should you desire to make a public commitment to Jesus Christ, you may come expressing that desire and asking for membership in our church through Christian baptism.

(2)  By Transfer Of Church Letter.  If your are presently a member of another Baptist church (having been baptized by immersion), you may join our church by transfer of letter.

(3)  By Statement Of Faith.  If you are a Christian and have been scripturally baptized by immersion in another denomination, or you have previously been a Baptist, but are not presently associated with a Baptist church, you may come by statement of faith on your previous commitment.

(4)  By Baptism From Another Denomination.  If you are a Christian and are coming from another denomination, but have never been baptized by immersion as a symbol of your faith in Christ, you may join by baptism.  This is in no way intended to question your prior Christian commitment or a baptism by another mode, but is a biblical symbol of one's obedience to Christ's command.  We practice baptism by immersion.

What about my children?

Quality preschool and children's Bible teaching programs are available in a safe and secure environment.  We take the safety and security of your child very seriously.  Preschool parents are given a pager just in case you are needed.  Read about our security!

Where do I park?

Plenty of space is reserved for guests.   As you approach the campus, look for "Guest Parking" signs for up-close parking near the worship center.
